🎄The Fairy Way to Play this Holiday🎄

It's the holiday season and the world is rampant with gift giving, Christmas cheer, darkening nights, and too much expectations, pressure and stress! We all can use Sagittarius season as a chance to uplift and play, however, too often we are stressin' about all the merry making and gift giving.

Fairies - or the manifestation angels - know how to play and have fun. They are also especially passionate about helping, protecting, and healing within the environment, which is an important value we often forget when we are lost in the consumerism nature of this season. Fairies also know how to be self assertive, playful yet firm, and clear in their intentions.

Let's take a look at some of my top tips to play this holiday season, the fairy way!

💡Shine Bright💡

Where would we be without fairy lights this season? Whether they are draped around your Yule altar, hung up along your favorite celestial wall hanging, draped within your magical fort, or simply adorning your most favorite Christmas decoration fairy lights bring us warmth, play, childlike enthusiasm and cheer.

As a bonus, fairy lights can be used year round and dressed up or down with different Wheel of the Year decorations. Buy them in electric or battery powered. I like battery powered so they are more portable to take, even outside.

Fairy Tip: If you get battery powered fairy lights, invest in some rechargeable batteries. This is great for the environment as it spares excess batteries going into landfills and polluting lakes, rivers, and streams with leaking battery chemicals. It also saves you money and makes you feel oh so good. You can just recharge and declutter your boxes of batteries away!

🍌Snickerdoodle Smoothie 🍌

Skip the egg nog and the who-know's-whats-in-it shakes and make my Snickerdoodle Smoothie instead! I have been blending this beauty away for weeks, and am still not tired of it. Its super cheerful, tasty, and oh so cinnamon-y.

Blend together coconut milk (or plant based milk of your choice), coconut yogurt, 1 banana (frozen and sliced if possible), 1/2 tsp good quality vanilla bean extract (look for it without the alcohol), and a generous helping of organic cinnamon powder. I like to dust the entire surface of my smoothie in the blender, so I really do mean generous. Tweak any of these ingredients to your liking as desired. Then, blend away!

Cinnamon is an AMAZING spice that actively lowers blood pressure, helps with managing blood sugar and even has an anti-diabetic effect. Its also loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to boot (Source). The coconut milk will give you the creaminess while staying plant based, the banana contains manganese and potassium and helps with digestion (Source), and the coconut yogurt gives you probiotics for healthy gut bacteria!

Fairy Tip: To dress this smoothie up even more, save a portion of the cinnamon you would add to dust the top of the smoothie. Pour into a beautiful glass, dust with remaining cinnamon on top, and add a cinnamon stick!

🥑Avocado Wreath Bagels🥑

I accidentally stumbled upon this creation while making a variation on my avocado toast one morning. Swap out your avo toast for avo BAGELS. Spoon out a ripe avocado into a small mixing bowl. (Don't be lazy and skip this step - it comes out so much better if you mash separately.) Mash thoroughly and mix in a tiny bit sunflower oil or lemon juice as desired. Spread evenly onto your bagels. Then top with dottings of siracha sauce. Voila! Christmas Wreath Bagels!

Fairy Tip: Below photo is just a snap from my personal discovery at the time of making it. You could really dress these up even more by using a squirt bottle to really do it up nicely. You could also mince cilantro and drizzle that over sections nicely for a bit of extra pop.

🍋 Lemon Saffron Tea 🍋

As the skies darken and we approach the longest night of the year, its easy to become more depressed with the lessening light. Also, the holidays through all their glitz and glam also have an understated, unspoken element of grief to them (for Sagittarius, Scorpio is their 12th house which is all things hidden). We are reflecting on the year that is now passing, and perhaps what did or did not come to pass. Maybe we lost things this year, or we didn't achieve certain benchmarks we thought we would. The holidays are often a time in which we also grieve for loved ones gone by.

In times of depression, I turn to saffron to help me boost my mood. Yes, I knowwwww its very expensive. But its properties are so simply phenomenal for your mind and body! Its been known to help with PMS, ease depression, improve moods overall, aide weight loss, serve as an antioxidant powerhouse, and possibly even butt kick cancer (Source). It really boggles the mind how amazing nature can be.

Make my lemon saffron tea by squeezing one half a lemon to get the juice into your favorite teacup. Add 2-3 sprigs of saffron (a little does the job). Top the lemon and saffron mixture with boiling water and let seep for a good several minutes. Add honey, agave, or coconut sugar to sweeten. You will get the incredible properties of drinking hot water with lemon along with saffron to boot!

Fairy Tip: If you have the time and resources to do so, there's always growing your own saffron to harvest too!

🎁Treat Yo' Self Too🎁

In the hustle and bustle of the holidays and gift giving to others, its easy to lose sight of treating yourself too. Don't forget to gift yourself some magic too! Set a reminder in your calendar, or write a post it note and put it on your mirror with "I deserve to receive". Maybe what you need to receive one day is simply your hot cup of lemon saffron tea, or maybe its a snuggle with your furbabies or kiddos. I recently treated myself to some wintry essential oils and a really plush pair of slipper socks I loved. Take the time to handwrite a note to yourself and sign it as your higher self. Little acts like this go a longggg way towards self love.
